A new beginning

Well that is what every monday is :). A new beginning. A new week, a new diet, a new work out. NEW NEW NEW NEW NEW. I normally don't like change but when it come in the form of positive cosmic rays that shine down on my body to make my being ever more KUNG FU... I think I'll accept it ^_^.

So the 600 jumps wasn't that bad at all. The calves are getting some jump rope kung fu going on in them no doubt. Its just a little trickle right now, but soon... soon it will be a ravenous flowing river of pure skill! I got to 105 jumps today without missing a step at all! I was very happy with this milestone. Also hooks are so much more fun that simple straight punches. I can get into it so much more. The same thing applies to side kicks. Its amazing how much power you can put into those. I was trying to find that powerful medium of balance and strength. I wanted to make sure that after the kick I could calmly return my footing and do it all over again. I was confused about how to do the left side so I switched my stance so that my right foot was in front and I did my left side kicks that way. Now I'm off to shower, after that is food and I need to check what time I work.

  1. If you want to side kick with your left foot when your left foot is forwards, just shift the weight back onto your right leg and imagine kicking down through the other guy's forward knee!
Back in my college days some dudes in the dojo used to do this kick...through baseball bats. Makes a great cracking sound (either the bat breaking, or the kicker's leg.)

  2. Ah yes, soon you will be doing double jumps and criss-crosses like a pro. ;-)

I find new diet and exercise day exciting. I'm always super stoked for whatever new exercise is on our sheets for the week.

  3. For now keep your regular stance at all times. This will mean your kicks and punches will be slightly different in form from left to right. That's good!
